No Longer Kosher to Bully Jews: Feds Reverse Civil Rights Policy on Religious Groups
The Obama administration has issued a policy reversal that protects Jews on campus buried within its response to bullying in schools. The new guidance letter by the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) warns schools of penalties if they fail to correct hostile environments for Jewish students. The new policy affirms a 2004 letter by then-OCR chief Kenneth L. Marcus, current director of IJCR’s anti-Semitism Initiative, which until now had not been followed.
